Amazing food and amazing service. Our waitress, Tanya, was a joy and walked us through all the menu options. The chicken mole was great, as well as the enchiladas and appetizers. Portion sizes are generous and we had to get dessert as takeout because we were so full, but didn’t want to miss out.

We went to L & J while visiting El Paso. They were busy. They said 25 mins wait time, but they called us in 10 mins. We had the Mole Chicken Enchiladas, the Steak Tacos, and Chips, salsa & guacamole. Everything was very good. The mole was perfect. The Steak tacos were tender and very good. The chips and salsa came with 3 different salsa. Kudos to Edgar, our server!! He was awesome, super nice, and professional. Thank you for your hard work L & J and your team.

If I had to recommend just one restaurant in El Paso, it would definitely be L&J Cafe. Even on weekdays, there’s often a wait during lunch hours, but if you’re lucky, you may be able to grab a seat at the bar right away. The complimentary tortilla chips are incredibly good, and the staff keeps them coming. The bartenders also pour a fantastic beer. Be sure to try the Caldo de Resβ€”it’s absolutely worth ordering. As popular as this place is, finding parking can be a bit challenging, especially during peak hours. But once you taste the food, you’ll understand why it’s so busy.

Considering El Paso is on the border, we were hoping for a more authentic Mexican experience. The food isn't terrible, but upon stepping inside, it is very apparent that this restaurant heavily caters to an American audience/palette. You can probably find this kind of Mexican food in all 50 states. The flavor was fine, albeit a bit bland, but not at all noteworthy. To give credit where credit is due, the interior is decorated with a bunch of old photos and stained glass, which gives the place a cool atmosphere. Portion sizes are also generous.

Visited L & J Cafe over Memorial Day weekend. One thing they handled well was wait time management β€” we were quoted a 35-minute wait and ended up being seated in about 25 minutes. Service was also efficient once seated, and they brought complimentary chips and salsa quickly. The chips were solid, but the salsa was underwhelming for me. It tasted fresh, but lacked the vibrant, punchy flavor I usually expect from a good Mexican salsa. I’ve honestly had more flavorful salsa at much cheaper spots and store bought jars. We also ordered a shrimp appetizer served on a flat fried taco shell. It was decent overall, but like several dishes we tried, it felt under-seasoned and needed extra salt to bring out the flavor. For mains, we had the chile relleno plate and the chicken combo platter. The chicken in the items felt like the rotisserie chicken from costco. It's chicken but like almost bland and dry. The items on the combo leaned very heavily into cheese on nearly every item, to the point where the dishes started tasting similarly bland. The chile relleno had the same issue. Overall, the food felt more Tex-Mex than the more balanced/vibrant or traditional Mexican flavors I was hoping fo

First time going in here for lunch. Parking is kind of a hassle, had to wait 5-10mins. The restaurant has nice vibes. I ordered their Mexican Combination which was amazing for its price. Everything was very flavorful and tasted fresh. Their service was good, prices are very reasonable, and you get complimentary fresh tortilla chips. My coworker ordered burrito and it was great too. A worth it place to check out. Would Recommend. 8/10.

Incredible Mexican food. We ordered the queso and shrimp tostadas as appetizers. The queso has poblano peppers mixed in (I think) and was delicious. The tostadas were also amazing, just a tad spicy FYI. There are 4 on the plate but 3 were eaten before we had a chance to take the picture πŸ˜‹. For the meal we had the chicken mole and steak tampiquena. Great flavor on both, which were also just a tad spicy. We finished with flan and sopapillas, the latter of which were my favorite. Again, no pictures on those because they were eaten so fast. Our server Leo was fantastic. The atmosphere was genuine. We got to a table in 15 minutes on a Tueday evening, but it can be pretty packed on the weekends. Pictures of signed headshots of famous people who have eaten there. Pretty sure Lando Calrissian was one of them...

Excellent service, best we've had in El Paso...to be honest, est weve ever had, even overseas. 10x better than the usual El Paso service. Thank you Jazmine. Located by Concordia Cemetery, save time and park on Yandell and walk the 2 blocks. You'll need the exercise after you eat. The salsas are good, the green one is super good, the rich, smooth red one takes literally 5 seconds to kick in, so be careful. The chili con queso was the best we've had, the tacos desebrada are (pretty sure) the best I've had for 20 years here in El Paso. Here's the thing. It's a small place and it's really good. It's super crowded, like Japan crowded. There can be a wait. Forget parking nearby, just take the walk from Yandell. Take the time, look at the photos on the walls, read the history on the menu, and I heard that the margaritas aren't bad. Afterwards, cut through the cemetery and watch out for ghosts.
